Healthy New Year’s Resolutions

Have you decided on your new year’s resolutions for 2018? Your health is a great place to start. Take a good look at yourself and decide on what you need to work on to live your best life.

Focus On Eating Better Instead Of Eating Less

Sometimes, eating less is not the best solution for losing weight. You’ll be much better off focusing on WHAT you’re eating instead of HOW MUCH. Try to focus on the food pyramid (MyPlate). Be sure to include variety in your diet. Limit your fats and oils intake, and be sure to keep fruits and vegetables present.

Combine Exercise With Netflix

If you have a hard time finding the motivation to exercise, consider combining it with another activity you enjoy. Want to spend your night binge-watching Gilmore girls for the 10th time? Run on a treadmill or lift barbells while you watch!

Get More Sleep

One of the best ways to improve your health and feel better every day is to get more sleep! Most adults require anywhere from 6-8 hours of sleep per night. Your body needs that time to reset. How much sleep do you usually get?

Use Your Vacation Days

Your vacation days exist for a reason – everyone needs a break! Whether you use them to extend your weekends or take a week to go on a cruise, try to use your vacation days every year! It will give you time to rest both your mind and body and reduce your stress. Stress is actually a leading cause of most illnesses because stress can weaken your immune system!

Reading can improve your mental capacity, which is just as important as your physical health! Try to make a habit of reading a chapter before bed or reading through the news in the morning while you sip your coffee.

Go To Your Doctor

There’s a reason that doctors recommend¬†yearly wellness visits. You may be experiencing symptoms and warning signs that you don’t think are a big deal, but your doctor can help you fix. Check to see how much of your wellness visits will be covered by your health care plan.
